National Literary Contest titled “Children Also Conquer Worlds. Show that You Can!”
Age: from 14 years to 19 years
The “Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria” Foundation organizes the annual National Literary Contest titled “Children Also Conquer Worlds. Show that You Can!”. Each year, the theme of the essays is different and aims to inspire the creative talent of young people from across the country.
In the most recent edition, young people aged 14 to 20 from all over Bulgaria had the opportunity to showcase their talent and use of the Bulgarian language. The theme “I Would Be Born Again” raised thought-provoking questions about existence, identity, and life choices. The grand prize winner was 17-year-old Yuliyan Dimitrov from the village of Barakovo.
This year’s theme is “Before I fall asleep…”, and the format is a short story.
Young people are challenged to create a story inspired by those moments of reflection, dreams, or inner dialogues that occur in the minutes before sleep.
Conditions for participation and competition rules:
- Participants – young people aged 14 to 19;
- Competition texts – new and unpublished;
- Formatting requirements: up to 3 printed pages, A4 format, Times New Roman 12 font and size; no personal data or information about the author on the document (work)
- Genre: Shortstory;
- Official language: Bulgarian.
Evaluation criteria:
- Competence in essay writing;
- Competence in writing argumentative texts;
- Good command of the language.

- Deadline for submission of entries: January 19, 2026.

- Announcement of finalists: February 19, 2026, on the website of the Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria Foundation, as well as on the social media pages of the Foundation and the Center for Young Talents.
Applicants who do not comply with the above conditions will not be eligible to participate.
Candidates who have used artificial intelligence to create, check, or improve texts will be disqualified. All works will be checked using certified artificial intelligence detection software!
