Sublime SDGs
Information for project:
Timeframe: 2023 – 2028
Age: from 15 years to 30 years
On March 1, 2024, the Sublime SDG’s project was officially launched with the goal of encouraging a sense of shared responsibility among European citizens for both local and global sustainable development in eleven border towns* and islands within the EU. The project is implemented by Burgas Municipality in partnership with the “Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria” Foundation, and aims to stimulate active involvement in addressing global challenges outlined in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
SUBLIME SDG’s will implement local sustainability initiatives over the next four years, involving residents, local authorities, civil society organizations, and institutions from the municipalities in the Burgas region, Bulgaria.
The Foundation participated in the project’s kick-off meeting in October 2024, held on the Italian island of Lampedusa. Our team made new contacts and wonderful new connections with partners from the other 10 countries, as well as with representatives from the NGO sector and local administrations of the participating municipalities.
Two months later, in December 2024, a youth seminar on climate issues was held at the Center for Young Talents in Burgas, organized by Burgas Municipality and the “Chance for the Children and Nature of Bulgaria” Foundation as part of the SUBLIME project. Over 30 young people took part in lectures and interactive sessions with experts in sustainable development and ecology.
Representatives from Burgas Municipality announced funding opportunities for youth-led climate action projects, with the winners being invited to attend an international meeting in Lampedusa. The seminar created a platform for idea exchange and future initiatives in the field of sustainable development.
As part of the project’s implementation, the KAMALÉ scheme was launched as an initiative for financing youth-led climate action, offering a unique opportunity for young people to take a leading role in addressing local climate challenges in their communities. KAMALÉ invites young leaders, supported by legal entities, to apply for grants to implement youth climate actions addressing local adaptation challenges, including involvement of marginalized youth.
Through this scheme, young leaders aged 15–30, via legal entities, can apply for funding to develop and implement creative, community-oriented solutions that raise awareness of climate change and global interconnections, while empowering young people especially marginalized groups such as migrants or young women to drive sustainable change.
Stay tuned for more updates as we work together towards a sustainable future!
